1. Code of Conduct
Staff, parents and pupils must be respectful and courteous at all times. Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and the school reserves the right to terminate contracts and exclude any offending parties from the school at any time. The Didsbury Theatre School Code of Conduct is available upon request.
When children are enrolled at Didsbury Theatre School they embark on a long-term dance development programme which involves following an internationally renowned syllabus and being coached towards exams, awards and theatre performances. At times we have waiting lists for places at our school. To help children progress, please ensure regular attendance and please give us a term’s notice if you wish to leave, so your place can be offered to another child. We also request that while registered at Didsbury Theatre School, children do not attend other dance schools.
Beginner Ballet classes costs £6 per session and all other classes cost £6 per hour. We offer discount for students attending 3 or more hours each week. Students are only accepted when they have completed the full registration process; we do not offer free trials as we plan all our sessions in advance and need to know exact numbers within the building for ratios and child safety.
New students can ‘pay as you go’ for the first 3 weeks then payment must be made in advance of each course of lessons.
Fees must be paid in full in advance of each term to secure your child’s place. We accept cheques, cash or an online bank transfer.
IF FEES ARE NOT PAID BY WEEK 3 STUDENTS MAY NOT BE PERMITTED TO TAKE PART IN CLASSES AND A £5 CHARGE WILL BE APPLIED FOR EACH WEEK OF NON-PAYMENT.
6 WEEK’S NOTICE IS REQUIRED IF YOU WISH TO LEAVE DIDSBURY THEATRE SCHOOL.
A charge of £5 will be incurred for returned cheques.
Please escort your child to the building. We may at times lock the front door for safety reasons (fire exits will remain unlocked). Please ring the doorbell. Please ensure you arrive on time to collect your child.
Children must arrive for their class 5 minutes before class starts and be picked up no later than 5 minutes after the class finishes. We cannot be responsible for the safety of students when their class has finished as we will be supervising other classes.
Jewellery must not be worn in lessons and hair must be tied back. Correct footwear must be worn at all times.
If your child has any medical conditions that we should be aware of, please let us know. Information will be treated in strict confidence.
Health & Safety and Child Protection Policies are available to view upon request.
The use of personal cameras and video equipment is strictly forbidden in our studios and during performances. Official photographs will be taken on behalf of Didsbury Theatre School and made available to parents and carers.
After attending the school for 3 weeks the Didsbury Theatre School uniform must be worn. The correct uniform must be worn for classes, exams and shows. Dancewear must be paid for upon order.
Didsbury Theatre School accepts no responsibility for the loss, damage or theft of personal belongings.
The school has an excellent reputation for achieving high exam marks. Children will only be invited to enter exams if the teacher feels they are ready. All children will have a personal exam record and if you wish to discuss your child’s progress, please speak to the teacher briefly at the end of the class or arrange an appointment for a more in-depth chat.
Examination Fees must be paid before exams are taken.
Examination Fees are non-refundable. Examination dates and times are set by the Exam Board and may be subject to change. Unfortunately we cannot accept responsibility for any inconvenience caused by changes to exam dates or times.
The safe-guarding of your children is our top priority. For this reason parents and guardians are responsible for all transport to and from events in external locations. Once inside the venue, Didsbury Theatre School will ensure correct child/adult ratios and Public Liability Insurance.
